Our History |
The Learning Zone began as a licensed in-home daycare in 2006, founded by Kimberly Wolfersberger and her family. Ms. Kim is extremely passionate about children and loves nothing more than to see them blossom and grow, becoming the best versions of themselves they can be. After a few years of successfully operating her in-home daycare, Ms. Kim saw a greater need for families in the community.
February 2010 Kim opened the first Learning Zone facility with 2 classrooms, in the Hill Top Plaza on Capital Ave NE. Within a few short years Ms. Kim realized there was a larger need in the area for not just childcare, but the quality childcare that she strives for. In 2012 she expanded to 3 classrooms and again in 2013 the 4th classroom. The Plaza was no longer big enough, and it was time grow. December 2015 Ms. Kim purchased the old Capital Florist building that she and her husband Mr. Jeff a small crew of their family friends completely gutted and remodeled into the state of the art, FIVE STAR Childcare facility of Calhoun County. Only 4 classrooms were finished when they moved the new center September of 2016. In 2017 they raised enough funds to completely remodel one of the three playground areas. By 2017 they had opened 2 more classroom, and another in 2 classrooms in 2019. In 2020 they opened the final 8th classrooms. Yet there was still a need for more quality care in the Pennfield area. In 2024 ground was opened up to add on 1,200 expansion to the west end of the facility adding 2 more classrooms, extending the kitchen, and adding a bathroom that is accessed by the playground. Learning Zone now offers 9 large and spacious classrooms with three age defined playgrounds that supports all ages and developmental ranges! Who We Are |
Our team at Learning Zone is dedicated to providing your family with quality care and safety; we treat your family like our own! We are a highly-educated team who provide our children with experiences and activities at their developmental levels to be active learners and to play with other children their age. We teach your children through active play with age-appropriate curriculum's, which you can learn more about below. The preschool classroom are taught by our talented team of professionals. Each Lead Teacher has earned their Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, they teach alongside the Assistants who have earned or working towards an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Most our Aides and helpers have earned a certificate in ECE, as well.

Parent advisory committee |
All classroom visitors are background checked, prior to spending time in a classroom.
Parent Advisory Committee meets twice a year. Parent & Teacher conferences meet 3-4 times a year. When families and teachers work together, we can create the best environment for the children. We invite the community and family’s input into the curriculum. Childcare and meals will be provided to all attendees who attend our bi-annual meetings. |
